I just moved to Tampa as well. Public Transportation sucks here, but you will find plenty of apartments in a walking distance from your job. Single bedroom cost about 700 and Double like 1000. But they are super nice. You can also rent a single room in a house, which usually cost around 500. Check out Sulekha.com, you will find tons of houses for rent. \
FYI: If you choose to rent a single bedroom in a house, try to find one with no landlord living in the house..hehe
