What do you guys think about duara surwal ? I think most youngster hate to wear duara surwal. They rather wear Indian costume rather than our own. Do you think daura surwal should be redesigned to make mass appeal ?

Haha bro let the Daura Surwal be as it is. I don't hate Daura Surwal but it is just not my preference. Umm.. does that make me unpatroitic?

Deura Surwals are nice..I used to wear a white one for Halloween....All the ladies wanted a piece of the Nepali Bhoot...I used to get em with my pick up line "Treat me, trick"...Never failed to rake in massive amounts of candy..On a sidenote, why the fuk is candy called "chocolate" in Nepal when there is no fukin chocolate in it...and then chocolate is always called "Cadbury"...weird stuff

Although I am gonna wear daura suruwal for the upcoming International carnival for a song i will be performing (adhuro prem by axix for those curious), I am not exactly excited to wear it. I do feel a version of it needs to be designed which is a little cooler and more comfortable.

From a Girl's Perspective: I am not sure about guys wearing Daura Surwal these days, unless they have got the real perosnality!!Like our late king Birendra, he looked so neat/tidy and put together on our national dress. He always wore his daura durwal with matching coats/scarf around his neck and topi. He was a trendy king, indeed. He had a good taste of conservative royal fashion. These days, I love Nepali Dhaka ko topi on young Nepali men. They look so charming and utterly hottt...Nepali Topi completes a Nepali man, whether he is wearing a suit or just a nice shirt and a pair of pants, a "dhaka topi " just adds a lil bit of perstonalityh and style to the wearer...it gives that Nepali touch...Nepali pan..that I personally loveeeeeeeeee... Likewise, I think saree is a beautiful dress for a Nepali lady...:-)..

I don't think Daura surwal is a costume for Halloween, Methodman. Here is where all Nepalis fail. We should learn to honour daura surwal as hindus do cows. I love Daura Surwal. I used to wear it when I was in Nepal and people used to stare at me. I was comfortable wearing it. I have couple of friends who wear during special occassions. Even the youngsters have started doing that in our community. Actually, it looks nice in Dhaka topi and Daura surwal.

I love the outfit. Do not know how difficult it is for men to go around in the dress but the dress is cool and is very formal. Suits for tall guys with lean body i guess but i love it

Daura suruwal is cool but not as convenient as modern clothes. To think of it, do you think Daura suruwal is really indigenous to Nepal as much as Kachhad is? It looks like an imitation of Rajput/Mughal clothing from the medieval times .... remember, that those times Nepali kings have been known to send "saugats" to those Mughal emperors and seek their blessings.

Hmm.. Daura surwal... I think that it looks good on guys.. I mean I understand that it might look a bit weird if people wore it on a day-to-day basis... tara I think guys really look good when they wear it in a special occasions... In fact I remember a time when two of my real pretty cousins were discussing how a REAL CUTE AND HANDSOME GUY was wearing DAURA SURWAL in their cousin's wedding and how he looked TOTALLY SMASHING!! I think that every nepali should be proud of it.. and re-design it?? Are you nuts?? I mean I think tht it is a nepali identity...and guys I think that you should try it sometime... it sure looks good!!

i think the daura suruwal is great for formal occasions and i like the fact that there is a "national dress" in nepal. yahaa ko national dress ke ho ta? jeans, a t shirt, and a baseball cap ki?! i think some men can definitely pull off the daura suruwal, tara most young men seem embarrassed by them. i'm glad to read that some of you like to wear them....maile ta only one time lagayeko chhu, for a dance performance. i'm glad i wore it once, but as dautari said, it's less convenient than "modern clothes". but like nepalkochori, i love my dhaka (*PALPALI in particular*) topis and vests and everything else! and for women, dhaka shawls are beautiful! and kurta suruwals are also lovely outfits....

I love handmade Palpali Dhaka toppi. Those are really nice. When I went to Palpa in 2003, I bought 15 Palpali Dhaka topi and gave some to my friends as gift. I have brought six Palpali here with me. I haven't got a chance to wear Daura Surwal here in US. I hope to wear it during International gathering if I get a chance.

how about replacing the daura with a sando vest (or wifebeater)? i had once taken off my daura, and was in a most uncompromising position of just having just my tight sando and surual when a bunch of young ladies walked in. i think it looks pretty silly, with the surual's big pouches in the front and rear.

Daura Sural historically came from the Persian inhabitance of Hinda Kush Moutains Of Afganisthan. Basically, from the Muslims of mountain - north Kashmir, north Pakisthan and Afganistan. Nepali Topi and Afgan Topi are same. This Gorkhali Posaka except the short coat or jacket worn over them from Western design. Rest is Muslbana. Then think where is the kins of king G........?????????????? Original Nepali are Mongols from South China and South East Asia migrated and Coucason migrated from Central Asia through the mountain. Mangols are Newara, Rai, Limbu, Tharu, Magar, Gurung and others Coucasons are: Kash - converted Hindu farmers of Nepal Brahamin and Ruling class are very new migrations from India after the invasion of the Muslim - during 12th to 14th century mirgrated to Nepal. Nepali dress is unstiched peace of cloth and nive string bhotos and cholos. Lischibi and Malla were the original kingdoms of Nepal.
