No, she must not show any financial document..But, if she has any, that would be okay to show..It may even be 3 lakhs to 5 lakhs or more...If she shows any amount that she has, it would be better but I am almost sure she does not have to show any amount..I am too graduate assistant and I did show just about 5 lakhs..(which i think is not that necessary)

Teaching Assistantship does not cover lodging and food. On I-20 there should mention estimate cost of tuition, books, lodging, food etc if stay in the dormatory. So, some sort of financial documents are highly recomend just to prove that you have enough to cover the other costs.

a lot of money.I don't think if it is necessary to show the statement.

I am myself here in graduate research assistantship and i didn't show any financial documents, property valuation, and what nots. To answer your queries, i would say it depends on the amount of total grant that you receive from the college as TA to cover your total expense . i believe sometimes TA doesn't necessarily cover all the expenses and in that case you might wanna be in safe side by furnishing bank balance of couples of lakhs that offsets the deficit. i had surplus of about five thousands dollars and i didn't show any income source, bank balance, and property valuation. i think that might help you a little.
