Dear bidhan408, I didn't mean that. I just wanted to show the way these protesting parties are doing their business these days. Certainly, one would expect the same political scenario in their democracy. These political parties are just showing others how the politics should be played.

It's NOT democracy at play, but demography.

Nepal's median age is 18.
That means, half the Nepalis (that's something like 13 million Nepalis) are under the
age of 18. It's the young people (especially young semi-urban males) that have dominantly come to the streets in these times.

Perhaps due to a varietyu of factors, Nepal's urban towns are filled with such young men (and women) with little or no education, not much to do and just ready to pick up fights with anyone and everyone over slightest of agitation.

We first saw the destructive power of such a disconnected and disenchanted generation in Dec 2000 during Ritik Roshan riots.

The vandalisation of hundreds of manpower agencies that took place on the 1st of September 2004 was another wave that showcased the growing power of that generation.

It's these young disconnected, disenchanted and angry Nepalis who provide the blood, sweat and tears to the ongoing andolan. The Maoists have long exploited them; it's only recently. with these people's taking over the andolan in a to-destroy-or-be-killed manner added the hard edge to the momentum of this andolan. I doubt the political parties can do much to instruct them on anything.

Dear ashu, if protesting parties are trying to claim power in this way, any other opposing parties will also try to capture the power the same way in the future. This will create a cycle of chaos for a long time. My point is: you can't use non-political, illegal and violent means to achieve your political agenda. If you do, others will also have the same right.

अब एउटा direct प्रश्न (as you said in democracy one should be ready to answer direct question),

i know you're a democrat (as you never fail to say so!). may i ask you whether you're a प्रजातान्त्रिक वा लोकतान्त्रिक person? as you and i know there's a difference between the two in this climate.

just curious, please don't take it otherwise.

Dear raru, everbody should follow the same sets of rule. There can't be one set of rules for protesting parties, and another for others. You can't do whatever you want just in the name of people. My dear friend, everybody must follow the rule including every citizen and each political party. You can't justify your wrong activites in the name of democracy, people or whatsoever.

Another Nepali,

I agree when you say that: "Other opposing parties will also try to capture the power the same way in the future."

But that's our Nepal -- whether we like it or not.
Ke garne?

We are polite and friendly on the surface, but the Nepali temperament, as far as my limited experience goes, is very violent, prejudicial, conspiracy-believeing and uncompromisingly bitter over the smallest of slights.

How we reconcile what we are with what want to achieve for Nepal in terms of creating a democratic space for all is a challenge for anyone aspiring to govern/lead Nepal.

Because of these 18 or so aged yound people's participation in the protests, the SPA could not even accept Gyane's offer. You know these leaders of SPA, how lobhi they are, and what motto they have while acting like leaders.

It is the strength of these young people which is warning (indirectly) the SPA at this very moment. SPA is perhaps now repenting for initiative and taking this far the protests. They might be thinking, they shoudl have taken PM post without this much babaal. BUT NOW THEY CANNOT DO SO.

And afterall, the demands of SPA is not clear at all. Now they got the offer for PM post, meaning they can form the government. But they are saying, NO... they need Parliament to be revived. Technically, that's impossible. Gyane fu*cked Deuba's government, only after Deuba fu*cked the Parliament.

However, as an extreme measure, Gyane might revive the Parliament only if things will lead to that extent where his throne is threaten.

Blessed be the people who are demanding a TRUE DEMOCRACY in Nepal and the ones who are supporting the cause.
At this point, the people who tend to be on the fence are the opportunists. You need to know where you stand at this juncture else you could become irrelevant no matter what the outcome will be.

ashuji, avoiding the direct question? not doing what you preach?

don't worry, i've your answer.

now, could you please stop harassaing Poonte with your freaking direct questions. he doesn't deserve your crap. he's done a lot more for this movement than many people who're physically in kathmandu.

Ashuji sounds like a MANDALE to me, too!!
There is a place or time for everything. At this point, even if one cannot attend the protests at least you can support those who are taking great risks by being on the streets protesting.

Ashu is not Mandale. He is an opportunist. When king decided to "elevate" himself from "constitutional monarch" to "autocratic monarch" in Feb 1,he was arguing everwhere against the democrats because then parties movement was weak and he thought king was winning. As soon as the movement started to become strong, he sensed that king may be losing and his days may be numbered. Thats why since last few weeks, he has started to change his color by calling himself "democrat". Look at his recent posts; he calls himself "democrat" many times in every post. That goes to show he is being desperate now, that proves he is an oppurtunist.

Another Nepali,
