Forwarded Message: This is a story of Ritika. If you know any organizations who can help and sponser the treatments of such cases, please let her father know about it. His address is sanu.khanal@bpc.com.np Her name is Ritika. She is 3 years old girl and she is suffering from complicated eyesight defect. She seems normal but she can't see anything. All her eyes can follow is the sensation of light. Ritika's parents, Sanu Babu Khanal and Puspa Khanal have consulted an international expert who happen to come to Nepal for special occasions for last three years and many other doctors of Nepal but nobody could diagnose the exact defect of Ritika's eyes. Some doctors diagnosed the defect as "Congenital Nystagmus" Ritika's case has recently been discussed with Dr. Robert Burnstine, Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology, Akron Children Hospital in northeast Ohio , USA . Dr. Robert Burstine, is one of only a few doctors who perform a procedure called Horizontal rectal Tenotomy for patients with congenital nystagmus, and he performed the first one in the world in 1999. Patients are said to travel from all over the country and beyond for this surgery. On average, patients have experienced a 20% improvement in their central Vision and a 50% improvement in their peripheral vision. Upon correspondence with the hospital administration, we came to know that the treatment casts approximately $ 7000. Unfortunately, Ritika's parents 'financial position is not sound enough to get her the treatment with that amount not of expe3nse. Her father works in a private company Butwal Power Company Limited (www.bpc.com.np) in Corporate Support Division (CSD), Her father earns only 1500 US$ per year. And the treatment with such financial background in quite impossible. Since, it is the matter of the life of a child; we should support Ritika's parents for her treatment at this time. Therefore, we are asking for your kind help. Please help them and forward this email to as many people as you can. Our contribution will be a valuable gift to her to lead a normal life. We have come to solution or contributing donations: You can send the donation directly to sanu Babu Khanal's Account given below, Name: Sanu Babu Khanal Saving Account Number: 006 00307930018 Himalayan Bank Limited Harihar Bhawan, Lalitpur, Nepal Please email her father at the following address (email: sanu.khanal@bpc.com.np), if you wish to make contribution. Remember, Your Small Contribution Could Mean a Lot to Somebody ! We thank you heartily for generosity and kindness in helping Ritika to see the world

San, Don't they charge additional money to transfer to international bank from here (USA). Instead, why don't we collect money and transfer the total amount at once? This would save the tranfer charge and save money for medical purpose. Please suggest. Thanks. :-)

Bank transfer charge is 40$ per transfer It is better to send money collectively so that that 40$ can also be used for her instead of giving it to the bank.

Yeah online donation is better. It does not only save money but also generate more fund. In the past many nepalese organizations used online donation system. It would be really good if one of these organizations take initiation.

I have set up online payments link so that it's easy to make a donation. I am not sure how much we can raise but any amount would be helpful for the family I'm sure. In the past sajha.com was able to raise donations for RaneeshBhattarai in 2004 and I am hopeful that this time too, we can make a combined effort to attempt to help a little girl out who does not have any hope without our support. Please give what you can. Give up few drinks this weekend but let's try to give Ritika a chance at seeing this beautiful world. I got an email this morning saying it was a follow up email to another email sent few weeks back. The email was from the father with a plea for help. I opened the email and saw the innocent child whose family lacked the means to help her experience the joys of sight. I felt that little a effort from us could help out the family and potentially give her a chance to see this world. It's not possible to help out every one who's in need, but once in a while we have to pay back the goodwill of humanity by doing a selfless act and helping someone out without asking for anything back besides their well being. Please donate by clickinghere

tejbg, yes it is pretty safe considering millions of people using it everyday. Paypal is very reliable, and try to use credit card so you can dispute wrong charges later on. Main thing is you should moniter your account very close if you use credit cards often. Still not sure using credit card, I am sure you can send the check or money order to Sajha admin. Glad to hear about your good effort towards needy people.

I looked in the web for 'Congenital Nystagmus' and found that it is very similar to the problem my 'bhatiji' has. We have tried with several doctors in Nepal. No specific diagnosis was done. She was prescribed with corrective lenses since she was 2 that has helped her to some extent. She can read the letters written with marker pens. Time and again, I wonder if extensive diagnostic test could be done to her but we have not been able to get hold of such doctors. Any suggestions? Bhatiji is 5 years old now.

Is the operation happening in Nepal? To insecure ppl about credit card, I am sure it's pretty secure. It's paypal, world's largest online payment mediator. I am sure they would be reliable if anything else.

Tejbg, It's pretty safe to make payments online thesedays. Also paypal is a pretty trustworthy company so you should rest assured. Juggy, thanks for your initiative on getting more people to contribute for this cause. It would be equally great if other sajha visitors could also take such initiatives among their circle of friends and motivate others to donate. If you haven't donated, please take some time now to donate. Combined, all of us together can make a lot of difference, and we can prove that by coming together once in a while for a worthy cause. It would be a very good feeling to be able to do something for this innocent child and to support this family who are helpless because of lack of resources. Please take a moment of your time and make a difference.. Plz Clickhere to donate!
