Friends,

I am thinking of forming an official organization of Nepali Phds in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (CS) from all around the globe. Students pursuing Phd at present can also be the part of the organization. The main purpose of the organization will be to form a productive group of like-minded people where each member can share his/her research and other experiences which could be useful for other members. We may start by forming a google group or something.

What do you think ? Please drop in your idea here. Let's see if we can get started.

Thanks.

A very stupid, idea. You guys just wanna show off you have Phds. Phd doesn't necessarily mean you guys are the only with better ideas.

I agree with APC....Nepal is so screwed up becasue everyone is so status concious....

Instead of people going with their talents and interest , people go for status.... eithier to be engineers or doctors, all other professions don't matter....let me tell you one thing EE most of them end up working as programmers... :)

Really a closed minded idea...

Why would you want input from only "like minded " people only? Why not from eveyrone esle?

Ideas can come from anyone, doesn't have to be PHD, mba, md, ms... etc....

So my thought is that this idea is " Stupid" for someone doing a PHD.

Why don't you start a Nepali think tank...instead....invite respresentatives from all type of industries , public and private...

This to me would be more informative and intersting

PhD is out of my reach.

But, if someone wants a group, he has all the right to do so.

Go ahead Don. Corleone.

I dont have any clue why you need a forum of CS/EE phds not a forum of people interested in CS/EE. I have seen lots of people who have ph.d. in fisheries/wild life but working as researcher in computer fields.

Mr. Don come foreward to respond.

Jealous nepalese once again started the game of "leg pulling". Noone seems to bother when so many threads going on about retarded stuffs, but if it's for some good cause "leg pulling game" has to start.

Mr. Don, are you doing it to show your status or to help for all those included in the field. As some people suggested, it'll be better to include people interested in CS as a qualification to be member than restricting to only those with Ph.D.s.

Phds in CS or EEs are the only ones allowed to join? How about another criteria to add, they must be a vegan or vegetarian!
LOL

All I can say is leg pulling is the art of critical thinking...if you cant take the heat stay out of the fire.....

Ok dude...jealous..come on.... PHD in EE or CS means they could not get a job....and that they need to get extension of visa...

EE and CS pays good money out of school for BS/MS...why eslse would you put yourself through slavery ...except you can get a job..

That is reason I did my MS.
word is
Don't want to go back to Nepal, can't get H1 visa..

There is a huge difference between "leg pulling" and creative critical thinking.

Seeing Ph.D.s or grad. education is only for visa extension is -ve thinking. I do agree that some people might do that. But you can't generalize the whole population. So, are you getting this undergrad only because you can't get job without the degree? If given a chance to have work-permit, are you saying that you'll drop out from school?

I won't wonder if 2nd generation nepalese in US come out to be crap as the first generation've already started to show the symptoms.

PHD does limits your job choices, it does not matter if you are the first generation or not.

Why is it a "leg pulling" when the original poster is clearly seeking feedback for his/her idea:
"...What do you think ? Please drop in your idea here..."
All APC and others are doing is voicing their feedback to the poster's idea.

Ph.D. may limit job choices. My reference to generations has nothing to do with PhD.

Regarding whether it's leg pulling or not; I don't want to do the same by showing this is pulling that leg.
