I am living in a 2nd floor apartment in Chicago. I have 17 months old son. Whenever my 17 months old baby walks on the floor, people from below throws basket ball on their ceiling (which is our floor). Whenever this happens my baby gets frightens and stays at one place. Now, whenever this kind of sound comes from anywhere, he gets frighten. I tried to talk with below people, they are not cooperating and telling me my floor can not be used as my baby's track... I think, it is hampering my baby's psychological and physical ability.
Now I want to make it a legal issue. Please let me know how can I proceed. I am sensing they are doing this because of us being minority group... they are descriminating and threatening us....
Any lawyer in this forum......

Before getting into legal things, I would say dont talk to them directly cause it is not your job, go to the apartment office and explain them the situation and tell them you have told them regarding this issue and they have said this and that.. let them know you didnt want to contact them any further because they might create fuss. Usually aparment company will contact them/ send them letter or tell them to move or gives you another choice (apartment). so dont talk with them..first of all go to the apartment office and talk to the manager.

Dharane_Kancha is 100% right.
If this thing happen to me..I won't be thinking that I am minority..but i would have done this. - baby is walking, but they are damaging the rental property,"ceiling' with tools banging against it, disturbing the other tenants. 'Disturbing complaint"
- They do this nonsense at the time when my baby walks, so its harassment to my child. "Harassment complaint".
- If these activities are done by teenagers living with parents, parents are in trouble. "Supervision and diciplinary complaint".
You name it, I have plenty of reasons...

By the way, I think I read this similar stories on Sajha couple weeks ago.
Now, I am thinking about parents. Don't get me wrong, though. Feel like i want to do research on this matter.
