Shailaja Acharya resigns from NC Central Committee

KOL Report

KATHMANDU, Sept 2 - Nepali Congress (NC) leader Shailaja Acharya, who was re-elected to the party's central committee only a few hours ago has resigned from her post.
Acharya has pointed out ideological and policy differences in the party as the reason for resigning from the Central Committee. She has also accused that the party is being run in a "sponsored" way.

Talking to Kantipur Online following her resignation Acharya said, ?I resigned because the party is being sponsored by some hidden forces and it has also deviated from its main political ideology that it had been retaining so far.? She did not elaborate.

The party?s representatives, on the second day of its 11th general convention, had unanimously endorsed the CWC?s proposal to omit constitutional monarchy from the statute.

Earlier, all the leaders except Shailaja Acharya had approved the decision to rub out the concept of constitutional monarchy from the party?s statute. Acharya had written a note of dissent on the decision but did not cast her vote against the proposal in the convention. (hb)
