Hi friends!
I want to know how can a Registered Nurse back in Nepal come to US? I already have 3 yrs of nursing course from CTEVT and currently working in renowned hospital in Nepal. Want to be in US. The easiest way...would it be for further study or to work? How long will it take? Your help would really be appreciated!!!
Thank you!

You have two possible ways
1) Try student VISA for BSN, you may start registration process to be a US Registered Nurse once you get in to US
2) Try finish the registration process from there and get a VISA screen done through CGFNS. You have to pass CGFNS or NCLEX exam from Delhi center, in this route.
It is just very top level description. You may want to surf for detail procedure.
Thanks

N Maan,
If you expect good suggestion, ask your question in appropriate site (hint: US immigration site).
In this site, sometime you get good suggestions, sometime hyou don't. It all depend on mood of sajha member reading your thread.

it might help
1. since u already have passed Nursing, takeThe Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) exam. you can take this exam by going to india which is not that bad.
2. take TOEFL
3. now you have to take one more exam and that is Board exam, which you can only take in US. So, just apply for visa. I am 99% positive that if you pass both CGFNS and TOEFL, you will get the visa easily and will pass board exam too.
4.once you pass board exam you are all set for job and green card.
good luck

i am surprised that no body mentioned about ongoing retrogression for Schedule A visa. that is the only visa available to nurses and it does not required labor's certification.. and you could get green card within a year. You have to wait until they lift the retrogression for Schedule A otherwise nothing can be done. Let me remind you, there will not be any hospital ready to sponsor you for EB3. First it is very time consuming process to get green card and second applying for H1 visa does not guarantee that you will get it looking at the number of applicants applied for H1 visa. And more importantly, it is extremely difficult to find a hospital that can sponsor you through the route of H1 and EB3. If it would have been schedule A's case, then it had been really easy to find hospitals willing to petition for your green card. Recently (october/november, 2007), house did not pass the bill for adding 61000 quotas for nurses under schedule A visa and the chances of getting those things done in 2008 is extremely rare because of presidential election. You should be looking for migrating some other countries like New Zealand, Australia, or Canada. Work there and gain some experience and oh yea, make some money too. Then when they pass the bill for Schedule A again, you can always apply green card to USA. I also recommend you to keep eyes on visa bulletin and also some attention on what the house will be doing with Schedule A bill. To apply for Green card under Schedule A.. you have to have 1. Nursing Degree 2. IELTS or (Toefl + Test of speaking english). I am not sure if they ask for TSE if you have taken new TOEFL which has speaking part as well like IELTS. Do some research to find that out. 3. CGFNS or NCLEX 4. Visa Screen 5. A hospital willing to petition for you N Man, it took me 30 min to find all those information. Please do your research, spend some time in researching than waiting for ready-made answers from others especially when it is associated with your future. Do not rely on others.. and do not go with what others are saying unless you verify it again from credible sources. Good luck

Would recommend to follow the advice by coffee333. Its is 100% true. Still u need to write CGFNS which is very much important if u want to come in USA. It is mandatory for all the foreign nurses. Once u pass CGFNS, u have to write NCLEX exam to be NURSE in US. Exams are not to much tough since u r already a nurse. the other way is to come for BSN program in US....and try for registrtaion procedures. still u need to write for NCLEX in USA... Spend some times in research n find the best way..... Good luck for yr dream........
