It may be little help to Nepali who are holding US citizenship, but from Indian point of view, we should not. It will turn Nepal into Indian State soon.

there is a good reason to exclude India and this is open boarder. we can exclude India/China.

Dual citizenship is good way to attract investment. But i don't know what happens to US government if they ask to renounce US citizenship in order to get Nepali citizenship? can we hold two citizenship from the US perspective?

If Nepal were to accept dual citizenship, you wouldn't have to renounce your American citizenship to get a Nepali citizenship (unless Nepal is to put some restriction). That means US have dual citizenship provision. However, if you are a Nepali citizen but want to be a naturalized US citizen, you'll need to renounce your current citizenship in order to get one. The renouncement is not enforced with some documentation but through verbal commitment when you take the oath.

Some countries, like Singapore, requires official renunciation of old citizenship in order to get theirs.

You don't have to renounce other country’s' citizenship in order to be an American citizen.

Here is the facts for dual citizenship for those who care. I am personally against the idea but this is what smart people say:

a) It is immoral, I wouldnt call myself a citizen of phalano desh and phalano desh too! Its like your name, you can only have one.

b) While dual citizenship attracts investments, most people do it to retain wealth in one or the other country and have a back-up plan. In most cases, its comes with visa restrictions. Think about how much Nepal makes from now foreign passport holders that used to be Nepali citizens/born in Nepal. I know a lot of people stick with green cards (I am not talking Nepalese specific here) and not get citizenship to save them entry costs at ports to Canada, Mexico etc.

c) In international criminal justice, the issue of dual citizenship will bring lots of controversy with how to prosecute a person of criminal wrongdoing. Some people like to have dual citizenship fearing persecution as a minority.

d) The population of the earth will mention two you's. So there will be one more(for each dual citizen) person on this planet than what the count is.

e) Elections- Like in Italy in 2006, mailed ballots had an impact on the national election itself. When people can want to exercise their citizenship rights, they will.

f) Dual citizenship advances overall participation- the business can run smooth- with no requirements for work permit and all, depends however on the host country where the immigrant is residing!

My wording "doesn't endorse" would have been better than "renouncement."

Dual Citizenship Good for country: - Why?

(1) Investment and Development:-

If Nepalese get dual citizenship, whoever lives in overseas as another nationality can invest in Nepal and contribute national economy growth? They pay TAX to Nepali government. But Nepali government must build a Law with very carefully. So Nepal will be more beneficiary in this kind of activities. They should not riff-off to Nepal.

(2) Employment and support nation:-

Whoever invests in Nepal or open any business in Nepal. It would benefit by Nepal and local Nepalese to have employments. One side overseas Nepalese support to nation, other side Nepal and Nepalese directly earn benefit form these kinds of business activities.

(3) Family and nation ties:-

It helps to make strong ties with their nation and families.

Important: Nepal government must establish strong and detail new Law and regulation system in how they supposed to get Dual citizenship? How qualify and disqualify? Investment Law, Rule, Regulation, Tax systems etc. Maybe whoever invests in Nepal will be qualify for Dual citizenship of Nepal. Must think how can we build or develop Nepal and Nepali will benefit from these. It should be Win-Win situation to overseas Nepali, Nepal and local Nepalese.

 

 

Dual Citizenship has more positive impact than nagetive impact.

There is always good side and bad side.

but we have to think which will make us more benefit for the good for the country and people.

may be dual citizenship helps nepal. may be it is beneficial for nepal. Giving dual citizenship to people in europe, usa, and all other country except india  gets that benefit. but it is not fair. And giving that citizenship to people in india i cannot imagine. nepal will no longer nepal. it will be full of biharis. Besides most of the dhotis from bihar are having dual citizenship. i think nepal government should cancle the citizenship that were distributed during moist strike.

Can somebody explain me how does Nepal will be Bihar if Nepal govt. granted dual citizenship? I thought only Nepalese who are living abroad (including India) gets dual citizenship. What to do with Indians or Biharis? Please clear me on this.

I agree with bisal. All the government needs to do is allow dual citizenship to Nepalese abroad ( People who are already Nepali citizen  and not to people who are naturalized in a different country and want to be a Nepali citizen)
