You are invited to 2nd Annual Mitho Bhet-Ghat where you can meet, converse, and mingle with people from your own heritage. You will meet many like-minded professionals and actually have meaningful conversations in just one meeting. If you are reserved or outgoing, a student, beginning your career, or experienced – you will enjoy meeting people in this casual setting. We are a firm believer in putting people face-to-face to facilitate direct conversation. Come prepared with your pitch or be spontaneous.

Make new friends, find a new job or business leads, start a band – opportunities are endless. And…who knows maybe your Mr. or Ms. Right might be amongst your new friends?

*This is a FREE event. However, we are trying to raise money for the Butterfly Home Project on behalf of the Early Child Development Center and Pushpa Basnet. A donation of any amount is much appreciated.

The Cause
What happens to children whose mothers and/or fathers are locked up in prison? Who takes care of them if there are no other family members there to do so? Alarmingly, children of all ages in Nepal stay in prison with their parents. The mothers grow up behind bars with their children- shunned by society, robbed of a chance at a normal life, and always at risk of violence, health hazards, and emotional insecurity. Stories of these children are often untold, unwanted, forgotten–and sometimes even unknown. This is where ECDC comes in…

Background on ECDC
The Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) in Kathmandu, Nepal was founded in 2005 by Pushpa Basnet, a young Nepali woman who studied at Kathmandu University. ECDC coordinates with jail administrators to rescue children from jail cells throughout urban and rural areas of Nepal. The children receive regular medical check-ups, vaccinations, and are enrolled in a local private school. Children have regular visitation with their mothers including during the holidays.

ECDC’s program is divided between two facilities. The kindergarten center cares for children under the age of 5 years old during the day. These children are still deemed too young to sleep apart from their mothers, but they are permitted to leave the jail each day for daycare, including educational programs, games, and nutritious meals. Children over 5 live year-round at the residential home and attend a local school. There are currently 42 children living in the residential home and usually 5-7 children in the daycare center. The children’s mothers work in jail to support their children’s education. They make elaborate Waldorf dolls, jewelry, and bags that are sold to support their children’s education.

ECDCs Programs

Butterfly Home: A rented residential facility for the 40 plus children and family members of the ECDC. It is staffed by 5 employees, and a number of volunteers. The facility is inclusive of separate male and female dorm halls, decently equipped with child and adolescent care resources, and has a number of recreational, study and activity rooms.

We are proud to announce that the first annual Mitho Bhet-Ghat (held last year ) raised $1,400 in funds from the donations of our sponsors and the generous contributions of our participants. All proceeds were donated to the Nepal Youth Foundation to help liberate girls from bondage who were enslaved as indentured servants in Nepal. We are sorry to dissapoint you @ Chaurey but this is a Nepalese SummerFest Exclusive Event. Some of our members initiated and trademarked this program and is not included anywhere except at Nepalese SummerFest.

I got a huge chuckle when I saw the bit that stated that "mitho bhet-ghat" had been trademarked. 

Good luck to all participants. Hopefully we'll get to see the pics of all participants. 

No matter what ANA is a platform for the success or unsuccess of Fashion show, mitho bhet ghat and lot other programs. Young generations like Pukar Malla and few other rose to stardom from ANA. Before that noone knows who is who. Good Luck to young generation. To be successful think of 20 years ahead not just this year. Nothing comes for free in this world.

Include this in ANA NRN and ANMSEA whaterver too. You the young generation will get more publicity and recognition not only among youth but also among old generation. I know the young generation got this encouragement to host summerfest from DC-ANA too. You all saw how the DC team of ANA performed all the functions in the limited time of 3 months or so.  So do not neglect ANA people. the big boss :)  

is there meetho bhetghat for 40+ year old male and female also?

You chaure organize this in ANA as Ask Lami.com. 35+ are the once who got the money and education dude  and high profile and much more. good idea :) go go go not too late.

why only ANA? why not in this DC ANA? meetho bhetghat pepul can organize different age bhetghat karyakram.

DC ANA happened last year dude. I think this year is Dallas ANA. I think there is a great necessity of this lami program as our nepalese educated generation are aging and the search for their better half has become very difficult. I see a lot of 30+ unmarried nepalese female and male. They definitely need this. Some are divorcees 40+ 50+. become a lami and be popular dude. You will get a lot of blessing and a curse if it did not work out. ANA is the platform dude.

Is there also provison for virtual meetho bhetghat? my uncle Mr. Raj K Pandey, MBS, MA will be grateful and active participant if that is allowed.

Can you post the picture of chicks who atr attending ..... . Let me help to make informed decision.

A valid source from last year's Mitho bhetghat revealed that due to lack of female participants, the organizers had to recruit their own friends or even the organizers themselves had to participate in the bhet ghat as 'single' girls. The source said it was unethical since they were not single and already had boyfriends.

I hope this year they don't have to send their not so single friends in to participate in this program.

Seriously noone should be allowed to take phone or camera inside such event. The more secret the more people will join and the more ethical it will be. The more curiousity for outside people.

If they add some Sugar Baby...it will be amazing ....:)
